Name: Bob Chandler

Birthday: 4/6/47

Years running at the time of profile(2000): 20 years of the last 40.

Occupation: IT intergration

How many miles a week do you run? 12 miles or so.

How did you come to join Bayou City?: I was over at Village Brewery having a beer by myself shortly after I got divorced and Jill DeVay and Janis Dvorak were sitting next to me talking about triathlons. I said "I used to do triathlons." They said, "yeah, right, fat boy.." Anyway, they told me about Bayou City and invited me to come out and join them sometime.

My proudest running accomplishment is: I'm thinkin'....Yeah, I know...my first marathon...Houston.

My favorite training run is: I used to live in Colorado Springs and I liked running through the Garden of the Gods.

My favorite race is: Stupid as it sounds, I'd say the Corpus Christi Relay Marathon. It's the one that's the most fun, right?

My best distance is: It's really a 100 mile bike ride, but running-wise probably the 10k.

I run because: To stay in shape for the International Marathon trips we take. And, I mean, yeah, you can't bike all the time, right?

My philosophy for life is: "Work hard, play hard, and travel with whoever will put up with you."

My next goal is: Another marathon in the US somewhere.

Favorite training food: Pasta and Salmon

When I'm running I think about: I don't think about too much, really...I just enjoy running.

The best running advice I could give would be: If you're not fast,(like me) you should still have running goals.

People would be surprised if they knew I: was fifth in the state my senior year in high school in the mile (4:40).

The top thing on my dream list is: Bike across the US.

If I could have been anything, besides my current occupation it would be: A chef.

Other hobbies besides running: Cooking, gardening, biking

I would love to spend the day with: Lance Armstrong

The most embarrasing thing that has happened to me is: Geez, there's so many...most of them I can't even talk about.

The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: The birth of my two sons.
