Years running at the time of profile(2004): I ran track in school. I did not run again till 1988, I smoked and was over 300 pounds, well maybe closer to 350.
Occupation: Brewer for Anheuser Busch
How many miles a week do you run? About 20 miles, Im not training for anything right now.
How did you come to join Bayou City?: I ran with the Hash for a number of years. Many of the hashers are BCRR members, and I got to know how much fun you can have with this group.
My proudest running accomplishment is: My first 5K run. I was hooked.
My favorite training run is: Other than Rice, its where Spring Creek and the San Jacinto River come together out of Humble Texas. You can run for hours in this river bottom and see deer, ducks and all kinds of critters. My wife said she knows if I am covered from head to toe with mud, I had a good run. She makes me hose off in the back yard afterwards.
My favorite race is: The race is gone but still my favorite, 10 For Texas.
My best distance is: Im not sure if I have a best distance.
I run because: I can, and it feels good.
My philosophy for life is: Enjoy the first time around. There is no replay.
My next goal is: To do Sunmart this fall.
When I'm running I think about: Not much, just enjoy the time alone and wish I were a better runner.
People would be surprised if they knew I: I was on a 440-relay team that set a state record, in the last century.
The top thing on my dream list is: To do a marathon in each of the 50 states.
If I could have been anything, besides my current occupation it would be: A History teacher.
Other hobbies besides running: I collect beer steins and do competition cooking.
I would love to spend the day with: My grandfather.
The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: My wife was diagnosed with cancer the year before last, and I had the thought that I may be alone. But she is ok now.
