Birthday: 11/25/52
Years running at the time of profile(2004): Seriously, for about 5 years.
Occupation: Mammographer...I'm good at it and I know my breasts
How many miles a week do you run? Not many in the summer (the heat and I don't like each other). I have ran 3 marathons, so when I am training, I run about 30-40 miles a week.
How did you come to join Bayou City?: We wanted to join a running club and BCRR's website looked like the best one. We wanted a club that was social because we had NO social life.
My proudest running accomplishment is: Every run I do is an accomplishment!
My favorite training run is: I like to do the Sabine/Shepard loop.
My favorite race is: I don't really have a favorite race.
My best distance is: Probably 10 milers.
I run because: I'm short and if I don't run, I am genetically predisposed to get very fat.
My philosophy for life is: Never lie...that's what I live by. I don't get in trouble that way. [Editor's note: That being said, she still managed to play a mean game of poker on the BCRR Italy trip...how does that happen without a lie or two? ;-) ]
My next goal is: Never to run a marathon again (said 24 hrs after Rome Marathon).
When I'm running I think about: I think about my Mom. I believe she gives me strength from heaven to keep running to the finish, whether it is a 5K or a Marathon. She believed in me.
People would be surprised if they knew I: was in the army for 8 years.
The top thing on my dream list is: I would like to go to Greece (but not for the marathon...I'll spectate).
If I could have been anything, besides my current occupation it would be: a gymnist.
Other hobbies besides running: Reading, cooking, traveling and yoga.
I would love to spend the day with: Dalai Lama
Most embarrassing moment: When I was in Junior High School, I was after this boy badly. I went two years chasing him. Finally, I trapped him. One day after school he decided (or maybe I decided) to walk me home. We walked home holding hands. Well, here comes my dad in his pickup Chevy truck and big farmer's hat. He opens the door and starts yelling at me about how inappropriate that looked, etc., etc. I was so embarrassed... my friend dumped me soon there after. I never chased guys again.
The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: Getting a divorce from my first husband. That's when my life really changed.
