Name: Wes Monteith
Birthday: 9/10/51
Years running at the time of profile(2000): 15
Occupation: Electrician
How many miles a week do you run? 30+
How did you come to join Bayou City?: John Lillibridge dragged me screaming and crying to enhance my running education and comradarie. Also I knew Paul Holstauer from school and he is such a smooth talker, I was suckered right in.
My proudest running accomplishment is: A 2:51:05 marathon at the age of 43 and 8 years of running,( and all I wanted to do was quit smoking!)
My favorite training run is: A good 20 miler or more, on a cool sunny day, anywhere; but usually at Memorial Park.
My favorite race is: Sunmart 50 miler
My best distance is: 50k
I run because: I wanted to quit smoking and forgot to quit running.
My philosophy for life is: One day at a time, sometimes one step at a time.
My next goal is: The ever elusive 100 miler
Favorite training food: Anything that does'nt upset my stomach. I consider myself the proverbial CHOW HOUND but have learned to eat lots of fruits and raw veggies. I like all the health bars and gels and usually will resist sugar if I am not injured.
When I'm running I think about: Everthing and nothing.
The best running advice I could give would be: Listen to everyone who runs, try anything that sounds like it might work for you,and stay positive!
People would be surprised if they knew I: Just ask me...
The top thing on my dream list is: Become a famous artist, but I'm putting it off because that usually happens after your dead in the art world.
If I could have been anything, besides my current occupation it would be: A famous artist.
Other hobbies besides running: Ink dot stippling, wall mural painting, reading and movies.
I would love to spend the day with: Jesus Christ
The most embarrasing thing that has happened to me is: Now would it be great if I could tell everyone about that!!!
The most profound thing that has happened in my life is: Accepting Jesus.
